Welcome to Porthcothan Caravan
This charming 6 berth caravan is located in our private garden at Golden Burn Cottage, just 5 minutes walk from Porthcothan Bay which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall. The beach is beautifully positioned in a narrow inlet between Newquay and Padstow and is one of the "Seven Bays for Seven Days" centred on the nearby village of St Merryn.
Porthcothan is a fully lifeguarded beach from mid-June through to the end of September and retains a laid-back, local feel that has escaped the development and commercialisation seen at other spots. The beach provides excellent body surfing and at low tide a natural swimming pool, numerous small coves, caves and rock pools can be explored. Towards high tide, Porthcothan Beach shrinks dramatically but also turns into a very sheltered beach due to the cliffs. The beach faces due west and is backed by a sand dune system. There is one small shop that sells hot drinks, snacks and ice cream. Close by are public toilets and a bus stop on the Padstow - Newquay route. The South West Coast Path passes through the bay which allows walkers access to the stunning coastline north and south of the bay.

The caravan provides breath taking views of the coastline and easy access to the local SW Coast Path and public footpath network, wildlife and, outside of summer, the opportunity to stormwatch.
Golden Burn Cottage
Guests staying in Porthcothan Caravan are welcome to enjoy our large garden at Golden Burn Cottage which is a haven for wildlife and flowers. The ponds attract newts, frogs, grass snakes and a variety of birds and dragonflies. Common lizards, slow worms, shrews and voles live in the banks that surround the garden. The fields between the caravan and the sea are generally planted with cereal crops in the summer and brasicas in the winter. Barn owls, kestrels, peregrines and buzzards, corn bunting, skylark deer and fox are regularly seen throughout the year whilst winter provides sightings of hen harrier, merlin and short eared owl.
The Caravan
The caravan sleeps 6 - there is a double bedroom, a bedroom containing 2 twin beds and a pull-out double bed in the lounge. The van is double glazed and centrally heated. There are are separate shower and wc rooms. We provide a relaxed tranquil private atmosphere for our guests.
Please note that we do not allow dogs or other pets to stay in the caravan,

Please check out the availability and price list and, if you would like to make a booking, either contact us by email or telephone. The caravan is quickly booked up with our loyal returning guests but there are occasionally weeks in peak season as well as more weeks away from the main school holidays that are available.
We ask for a 20% deposit to confirm a booking and would expect the balance due on or before the first day of the stay. BACs details can be provided.
The caravan is normally booked on a weekly basis - with guests arriving after 2 pm on the Saturday and leaving by 10am on the Saturday of departure. It may be possible by prior arrangement to park your car with us after or before these times so that you van enjoy more time on the beach.
